Course Reviews

CP317 is probably one of the easiest CS courses you can take, and despite seeing negative reviews about Shaun Gao, I didn’t think he was bad at all. His tests and final exam were extremely straightforward since they were basically direct quotes from the slides, so as long as you review those, you’re fine and don’t even need to attend class. The assignments, on the other hand, lacked clear instructions, but the key is to ask for feedback, whether by going to class or emailing him drafts, because he’s very responsive and will practically tell you exactly what he wants. I went back and forth with him several times on my reports and presentations, and because of that I ended up getting really good marks. Overall, it’s an easy and manageable course if you make use of his feedback.
